Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Yesterday I featured the essentials of my beauty toolkit, and you might have noticed that a makeup sponge was not on the list. I've always been more into applying foundation with a brush or my fingers, but I really wanted to try the Miracle Complexion Sponge ($5.99) from Real Techniques. I knew that this was a love it or hate it type of product, but for the price, I figured I'd see how it worked for myself.

Beauty toolkit

I think it's in the nature of many beauty bloggers to try lots of products, and have favorites that vary from month to month. I often fall in that category, but the tools I use for my makeup and hair are extremely consistent. I picked out my most most used ones, and many of these products I've been using everyday for years. These are the essentials of my beauty toolkit.

Organic Wear BB Cream vs. CC Cream

I've been a huge fan of Organic Wear CC Cream ($14.95 for 1.2 oz) since I bought it last summer, so I was super excited when I saw that the line has also come out with a new BB Cream! Like a good blogger, I thought it would be fun to compare the two products and see which one I like better.

Deep Steep Passion Fruit Guava Sugar Scrub

It's been quite a while since I've featured a review of any Deep Steep products on my blog! Y'all know I can't get enough of Deep Steep body care, so I figured I would share the latest product I've sampled from the line: the Passion Fruit Guava Sugar Scrub ($7.96 for 8 oz).

Collective haul: Lucky Vitamin and Pharmaca

My first haul post last month was super popular, so I figured I would continue to keep you guys in the loop about what I'm buying! This time I made orders from Lucky Vitamin, one of my go-to sites that carries a massive selection of products, and Pharmaca, my favorite site for ordering Zuzu Luxe products. Here's what I picked up:

My favorite bloggers: volume 1

The green beauty community is full of talented writers who inspire me with creative content, and of course are always enabling me to try new products. Since there are so many great bloggers out there who deserve attention,  I am starting a new (hopefully) monthly feature where I'll share some of my go-to blogs that always keep me up-to-date about what's new in the green beauty world. In future posts I'll also share some of my favorite food and lifestyle blogs as well. For now, I here are five green beauty favorites that I always am clicking on! In alphabetical order:

Fig + Yarrow Hair + Scalp Tonic

In the winter time, I find that oil treatments become an essential part of my haircare routine. I have a dry scalp, and the ends of my hair can get really parched too from all the flat ironing I do. Lately I've been reaching for Fig + Yarrow Hair + Scalp Tonic* ($12 for 1 oz/$34 for 4 oz) for its nourishing blend of oils and soothing herbs to help moisturize and stimulate my hair and scalp.

What's in my makeup bag + Unii Palette

It's been quite a while since I've shared a peek into my makeup bag and unii pallete! I thought it was time to update y'all on my everyday products and what I'm trying out right now. Come take a look through my stuff...

Odylique Coconut Candy Scrub

The last product I've tried from Odylique is the Coconut Candy Scrub* ($48 for 5.9 oz), and it just might be my very favorite out of the three! If you're into coconut scents or products that truly make you feel pampered, read on.

Andalou Naturals Moisture Rich Shampoo + Conditioner

Yesterday I brought you a big post on Andalou Naturals' line of cleansers, and today I'm reviewing more excellent products from the brand: the Argan & Sweet Orange Shampoo and Conditioner ($7.96 each for 11.5 oz). I liked this haircare duo right from the get-go.

Andalou Cleansers: a primer

Andalou Naturals is one of the most easily accessible natural brands, yet until a few months ago, I'd never tried anything from the line. After enjoying their Citrus Kombucha Cleansing Gel, I picked up a bunch more of their products when they went on sale at iHerb. All of the cleansers really appealed to me, and since my skin is pretty normal-ish, I can usually swing any way with cleansers formulated for dry, oily or regular skin. Of course, I ended up collecting three from the line, plus their special eye makeup remover. Here's my thoughts on all of them!

Mirati Hand Cream and Body Wash

I was recently offered the chance to try products from a Slovenian company called Mirati. I was really intrigued by their key ingredient: ghee. Ghee is clarified butter that is often used in Indian cooking, but it is also frequently used in Ayurvedic skincare because of its richness in skin-nourishing ingredients like essential fatty acids, including Linoleic acid, vitamins and antioxidants. I tried out the Hand Cream* (12,31 € for 100 mL) and Body Wash* (14,89 € for 250mL), which are both made with this unusual ingredient.

Frankincense and Myrrh Zum Rub

Silly as it sounds, I have a strong affinity for skincare that comes in tins (see also: Badger), so I knew I had to try a Zum Rub. These multipurpose moisturizers come in a variety of scents, and are unique because they are made with goat's milk. I opted for the Frankincense and Myrrh ($8.55 for 2.5 oz) scent, because I heard from Kimberly Loc that it was a good spot treatment for pimples.

Winter lip balm picks

Though I do like to bust out the bold lipsticks from time to time, I am more of a lip balm addict on most days. Winter is the time to obsessively apply lip moisturizers, and I am actually able to use most of the products in my oversized balm stash. Here's a look at what I grab for the most. All of these products have fantastic, natural nourishing oils and butters, and many are USDA Certified Organic.

Acure Aromatherapeutic Moroccan Argan Oils

Acure's Argan Oil is an well-loved product that I've purchased several times. It's great for all skin types, it doesn't break me out, and it's extreamly hydrating and soothing on the skin. Now, Acure has released three Aromatherapeutic versions of their signature oil: Coconut*, Citrus Ginger* and Rose*. Each is a extremely reasonable $12.99 for 1 oz of product.

My favorite winter lip combo

Though bold, dark purple lips came back in style a couple years ago, I have been slow to jump on the trend. I always loved the way they looked on the likes of Rihanna, but I wasn't a big fan of the stark contrast between super pale skin and dark lips. However, this year I've really started to warm up to the vampy look, and I found a perfect combo of natural products to achieve it.

Organic Essence Organic Confidence Relentless All-Day Deodorant

Yesterday I shared my thoughts on Organic Essence's moisturizing creams, and today it's time to talk about their deodorant! It comes in a cool tube that looks like a giant version of those cardboard lip balm containers, and has a name that promises that it will be long-lasting: Organic Confidence Relentless All-Day Deodorant*. I tested it out in the lemon-tea tree mint scent, because I am pretty much all over anything minty.

Organic Essence Shea Cream and Whipped Shea Body Butter

Green beauty has come a long way in the past couple of years. We now have more options than ever for natural makeup and skincare, but there is one place where many companies often fall short: the packaging. We all know that plastic is not our friend because it cannot decompose, but there are also concerns that plastic can leach chemicals into products. That's where Organic Essence comes in. This company carries products that are USDA Organic, and are housed in really neat biodegradable containers. I've been trying out two of their rich body moisturizers: the Citrus Lavender Whipped Shea Body Butter* ($14.99 for 1.5 oz) and the Grapefruit Organic Shea Cream* ($17.99 for 4 oz).

December empties

Happy 2015 everyone! I'm hoping to fit more time in for blogging this year, as it is still my very favorite hobby. For my first post in 2015, I'm doing empties! It's been a full six months since I've written about empties. Obviously, I wasn't hoarding half a year's worth of products, but here's what I've used up in the past month.
